Job Overview

M Health Fairview has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant to join our team at the Surgery Clinic located in Maplewood MN. Join M Health Fairview, the largest healthcare system in the state! The M Health Fairview Maplewood Surgery Clinic is a growing and collaborative clinic. Our clinic is open Monday - Friday 7AM - 5PM, so no evenings, weekends, or holidays! This provides an excellent work life balance!

Surgical specialties includes general and plastic surgery, comprehensive weight management, and ENT clinics. This position will primarily work directly with our general, bariatric and ENT providers, but will cross over to other departments when needed. In addition to routine medical assistant duties, rooming and exiting patients, restocking and cleaning exams, ordering supplies as needed, assisting with procedures, and processing instruments including autoclaving and HLD processing on site in surgical specialty clinics. This is an upbeat, positive environment with surgeons, bariatricians and APPs who appreciate their team and readily offer education when desired!

This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening.

The schedule for this opening wall range from 08:30AM to 5PM Monday - Friday, subject to change based on clinic needs.

This position offers a $2000 New Hire Sign On Bonus!

This role will be required to cover other departments such as ENT, Plastic Surgery, and Medical Specialties based on business needs. The primary site for this opening is Maplewood Specialty Center and may need to cover the Woodwinds Clinic location on occasion.

As a member of the patients care team, a Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high standard functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families. The Medical Assistant will collect information and detail the patient's visit. MA's are responsible for adhering to policies, procedures and practice guidelines; promoting communication with all members of the team, maintaining complete, timely and accurate clinical documentation for each patient and continually looking for opportunities to improve processes and workflow.

Medical Assistants deliver care as delegated by the patients Physicians, or RN. They are able to prioritize work based on need, available resources, patient preferences, provider schedule, and work in collaboration with the physician/authorized practitioner as well as other health care team members. You may also perform high, and low risk, technical procedures during your daily work which could include: medication administration, assistance with CPR, assistance with procedures which may include lab draws

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or LPN is required.
Basic Life Support Certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Ambulatory Care Experience is preferred.
AAMA Certification is preferred.
