The Cardiac Catheterization Registered Nurse operates sophisticated equipment and provides patient care during Catheterization procedures. Assists the physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology studies and interpreting hemodynamic waveforms and electrocardiographic tracings. Assist cardiologists in device implantation procedures and surgeons in completion of surgical procedures in the cath lab. Assists in the operation and maintenance of fluoroscopic, digital image recording and electrophysiologic equipment. Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Retrieves narcotic keys from Pixis and performs narcotic count. Collects data for quality control programs. Assists with inventory controls and maintenance of computer reports. Patient care is individualized to the age/developmental, psycho-social-cultural patient need
Position Responsibilities
- Operates hemodynamic/physiologic recording, digital cineangiographic and electrophysiologic equipment.
- Performs and interprets hemodynamic waveforms. Operates complex physiologic recording computer system including routine programs for diagnostic procedures and special measurement programs for interventional procedures. Maintains storage and retrieval systems for all records.
- Maintains proper performance of physiologic recording equipment and biplane digital angiographic equipment. Recognizes and trouble shoots problems with equipment.
- Prepares surgical trays, instruments, contrast media, room and patient for scheduled procedures. Assists the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures, EP studies, pacemaker implantation and related procedures in the CICU and OR
- With the approval of the Medical Director, Chief of Cardiology and Administrator, develops policies and procedures for quality control of physiologic recording processes, digital recording processes and record storage and retrieval systems. Monitors quality control indicators.
- Provides age and developmental appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
- Maintains clinical competency in all aspects of cardiac catheterization and provides direct patient care as needed.
- Provides safe and appropriate nursing care.
- Recognizes and identifies own learning needs and responsibility for continual development. Strives to increase knowledge through independent study.
- Assesses own strengths and weaknesses, identifies goals for professional growth and strives to meet these goals.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to enhance patient care.
- Provides age and developmental appropriate care to infants, children and adults.

Job Requirements
- ASN required
- Active Florida or multi-state RN license, required
- National certification in area of clinical specialty (preferred)
- Minimum of one year RN experience required, Cath Lab RN experience preferred
Following must be obtained prior to employment start date
- Valid American Heart Association BLS Certification; must be valid for 90 days post start date.
