Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

The charge nurse provides direct supervision to all personnel on the assigned unit and coordinates the delivery of nursing services during a shift. This position is an integral role in the leadership of the Cath Lab and requires sound managerial skills and a high degree of independent judgment and critical thinking skills. In addition to meeting all elements of the Registered Nurse Job Description, the charge nurse consistently meets several elements of leadership.

Required Qualifications

Current CA RN License
Current BLS Provider
Current ACLS
Minimum six month of nursing experience
External candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or above
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications

Two years staff nurse experience
Acute hospital experience
Previous supervisory experience
Position involves standing and walking for long periods of time, approximately 75% of the workday
Sitting is approximately 25%
Must be able to transfer and lift patients as necessary. Weight will vary from patient to patient
Must have the dexterity, coordination, and visual and auditory acuity to perform all job responsibilities
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Must be free from signs of illness and infections
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
