Job Summary
The D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is a 12-story hospital that will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care; a state-of-the-art neurosciences center; and high-level, specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients, along with advanced imaging. The 690,000-square-foot hospital which also features 20 surgical and three interventional radiology suites is being constructed adjacent to the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, with plans for bridge and tunnel connections to existing inpatient care facilities. The anticipated opening of the new D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is fall 2025.
The D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion at U-M Health Operating Room Unit will feature 20 operating suites with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation supporting the following specialties: neuro-anesthesiology, neurosurgery (including MR/OR), oral maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, spine, and general thoracic.

Hourly range for Registered Nurses $40.18-$62.31 / hour

Responsibilities*
D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion-Operating Room Internship
The internship is a six-month operating room orientation program. This educational program provides a valuable and unique career opportunity for graduate nurses/registered nurses. By teaching a wide range of skills and knowledge, the program prepares the intern for their new role as a perioperative nurse. The internship program is conducted in a classroom, laboratory, and patient care setting.
The internship position is 40 hours per week. There will be Day/Evening shifts included in this position, with call and weekend/holiday obligations.
Anticipated start date to be May 2025.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*
Current Michigan RN license for all candidates that have passed the NCLEX.
- GN applicants will be considered for this position. The selected Graduate Nurse candidate will have 45 days from date of hire to successfully pass the NCLEX for Michigan RN licensure.
Call commitment with 30 minute response time.
In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

NOTE: All applicants selected to interview will complete a 1/2 day observation in the UH-OR (unpaid). The UH-OR internship requires a two year commitment to working in the UH-OR.

We are pleased to announce that in the fall of 2025, U-M Health will be opening our newest hospital, the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion. The Pavilion Operating Room (OR) Unit will feature 20 operating suites with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation supporting the following specialties: neuro-anesthesiology, neurosurgery (including MR/OR), oral maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, spine and general thoracic. Upon opening the pavilion, these services will no longer be present at the University Hospital ORs. Training while in the internship will primarily occur in the University Hospital OR. There will be opportunities to train in the Cardiovascular Center OR and in the MR/OR suite at Mott. Staffing post internship will occur at University Hospital until the pavilion opening.
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
