JOB SUMMARY
Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
VICC Cancer Clinic supports the adult and geriatric patients with conditions requiring the specialized services of medical oncology and surgical oncology. The subspecialties of medical oncology are gastroenterology, head and neck, thoracic, supportive/palliative oncology, anesthesia pain management, neurology, urology, gynecology, sarcoma, and melanoma. The subspecialties of surgical oncology are gastroenterology, general surgical oncology, gynecology.
This clinic provides outpatient care with services to include but are not limited to: Medication administration including vaccination, vital sign measurement, laboratory testing, dressing changes, wound care; gynecology oncology perform colposcopies, laser procedures and biopsies; neuro oncologists perform lumbar punctures, chemo administration via omaya reservoir; medical oncologists, anesthesiologists, surgeons, and advance practice practitioners perform paracentesis, fine needle biopsy, punch biopsy, colonoscope, nerve blocks, and administration of injectable therapeutic agents.
Fellowship Program:
Curious about a career in outpatient oncology, but not sure where to start? Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is recruiting nurses to join their team through an Oncology RN Fellowship Program. The Cancer Clinic has 10-hour shifts, with no weekend/holiday/on call shifts! The fellowship program will supplement your orientation to increase knowledge while offering peer support and mentor check-ins throughout your first year. Upon hire, you will automatically be enrolled into the fellowship program if you are new-to-oncology.

Sign-On Bonus Requirements
The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months. The sign-on bonus is only available for full-time positions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.

• Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
• Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Conducts primary care patient interviews and physical examinations. Demonstrates sufficient acumen to recognize problems, ask questions and to contact the patient's primary care provider and other members of the healthcare team. Has experience in gathering pertinent clinical data that aid in referral, treatment, or other primary care pathways.
• Evidence-Based Practice (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully search for evidence to answer clinical questions. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
