IU West’s Family Maternity Center is family focused and consists of 14 labor and delivery, recovery & postpartum, 2 C-section postpartum rooms, and 2 operating suites on the unit. We are staffed by maternity as well as Anesthesia, OB Labor, and Pediatrics Hospitalist 24/7. The average deliveries per month range from 80-90. Staff comprised of RNs, lactation consultants, PCAs, CSTs, and Unit Secretaries.

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

Triage of OB patients
Managing each phase of the pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum process
Collaborative work with physicians

Unit culture:

Positive environment with great team collaboration & physician engagement

Qualifications

Must have one year of RN experience.
Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
