Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Hours per week: 20-30 hours
Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 10-hour shifts from 10:00am – 8:00 pm, over seven days a week, including weekends and holidays
- No night shifts
- Daily shifts from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Required Training
Required Minimum Training: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.

o FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan. with current Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner (ENP) Certification
Required Minimum Experience: 3 years of experience as an APP in Emergency Medicine and experience in Telehealth.
Degree of Supervision
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC. They will report directly to the Division of EM Telehealth medical directors.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date: Basic Life Support (BLS). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required for adult inpatient positions DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.
Job Duties
Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
· Virtually assess and examine ED waiting lobby patients
· The evaluation will occur ASAP including prior to a nurse triage
· The exams will be in private screening rooms. They will not occur simultaneously with a nursing triage
· Engage patients earlier to establish a patient provider relationship and evaluate for subtle presentations of medical emergencies.
· Document a brief note in the EMR (EPIC) using a smart text
· Place initial custom tailored diagnostic orders
· Assign the patients to an appropriate treatment location
· Communicate with the care team (on the ground via secure chat) to inform them of critical presentations, changes in condition, or abnormal diagnostic testing
· Enhancing the patient experience is essential. Patients will receive real-time surveys to provide feedback. It is crucial for our providers to deliver not only outstanding care but also exceptional customer service.
Physical Requirements
Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs(+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
Additional Job Description
Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies. Must be licensed in the state of South Carolina, and certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
