Neuro Trauma Progressive Care Unit

The Neuro/Trauma Progressive Care Unit 5S is a fast-paced 24 bed step down unit, high acuity unit with a talented team! The complex patient population provides opportunities for continuous growth in your nursing skills and abilities. Common patient diagnoses include, but are not limited to, motor vehicle crashes, falls, stroke, seizures, brain bleeds, life threatening wounds, internal bleeding, ENT surgical patients, and post-operative neurosurgical patients. This unit serves to help stabilize patients further until ready to transfer to a medical surgical unit or leave the facility.

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

Highly specialized assessment skills
Excellent time management
Prioritization of care
Adept communication with the multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

•    Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
•    Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
•    Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
•    Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
•    Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
