LPN JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: LPN
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for assisting physicians and management with evaluation, examination, treatment and education of patients. Manages patient charts and assumes responsibility for resolving patient requests including test results, prescription refills, and general healthcare questions.
REPORTS TO: Office Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
Daily:
- Answers phone calls, emails and voicemails and returns patient calls in a timely and efficient manner
- Documents all conversations with patients in the patients electronic medical record
- Checks refills requests and calls in prescription refills to pharmacies as needed. Maintains knowledge of medication dosage and frequency guidelines
- Monitors inbound results, reconciles orders in chart and contacts patients with results and follow up instructions per provider guidelines and instructions
- Enter recalls for visits and tests ordered but not scheduled in the future
- Manages patient charts to ensure clinical information is completed and filed appropriately
- Performs upkeep for exam and specialty procedure room with regards to sterilization and infection control, supplies, and equipment
- Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and medications as needed
- Draw labs, EKG, Accucheck, Hgb, preform vaccines and injections and other tests in the office
- Perform well child checks including management of vaccines and annual wellness visits and provide preventative care education to patients
- Accurately provides or counsels patients and/ or relatives with pertinent information regarding medical treatment or procedures
- Completes requests for information from other medical staff and ensures that the request is handled promptly and effectively
- Monitors schedule and organizes patient flow for physician office visits or in-office procedures
- Accompanies patients to exam room as needed; collects and updates patient history including vitals, allergies, past medial, social and family history. Enters Review of Systems as per the patient history form
- Performs or assists physician with in-office procedures as needed
- Schedules and obtains results for lab or radiology procedures; interprets and accurately communicates results to physicians and patients as necessary
- Administer allergy injections and document required data and follow all office protocols
- Performs emergency life-saving procedures if necessary
Monthly
- Stock patient education information in exam rooms
- Manage vaccine logs and prepare and submit vaccines for children/bright starts vaccine program forms
- Check PAR levels and submit order for back office clinical supplies
- Preform safety checks, calibration checks on clinical equipment to be sure it is functioning properly
- Send recall letters and/or call patients from recall list to schedule follow up appointments/testing
- Monitors sample medications and crash cart to insure medications are up to date and dispose of expired medications
- Abides by and promotes HIPAA compliance; maintains strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information
- Participates in staff meetings as directed by the Office Manager
- Other duties and/or special projects as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
LPN with current license in state of Georgia, CPR Certification required. 2-3 years of clinical experience in family medicine, preferred.

- Possesses compassion for dealing with people who are ill and need help
- Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by the Office Manager
- Work under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely manner
- Communicate clearly with patients and coworkers through the telephone, email, and in-person
- Interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
- Frequent exposure to blood and body fluids
- Frequent exposure to hazardous material
- Appropriate protective equipment will be readily available and provided
- Exposure to communicable diseases
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment; spends 95% or more of time inside. Lifting up to 50 lbs and frequent carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.
