Your Role on the Team
Position Summary
The Interventional Radiology Charge Nurse oversees clinical functions related to the delivery of patient care, the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care for the assigned shift for Interventional Radiology along with multidiscipline such as anesthesia, Neuro Interventional and Musculoskeletal Interventional. Monitors the flow of the IR Recovery beds in Tower 1A and DHRR - total of 12 beds. Coordinates patient care activities by directing staff and functions in the procedure area, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Oversees and coordinates the daily workflow. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Leads the break relief/lunch coverage for the shift. Troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise and escalates to leadership in a timely manner. Functions as a role model and clinical resource to staff and patients keeping a patient-centered focus.

Required Qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills by a minimum of three leadership roles/responsibilities within the last two years that demonstrate continued interest in personal development, the ability to mentor and provide constructive feedback, and the ability to lead a team to produce better outcomes. Demonstration of these skills may include excellence in leading a project, implementing a change project, teaching a skills lab, practice council chair, charge nurse, etc.
- Minimum of two years recent experience caring for general post-op care
- Minimum of four years recent acute care RN nursing experience, at least two of the years must be Interventional Radiology
- Complete understanding of patient classification system & staffing requirements for the patient population
- Bachelor of Science, Nursing
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- ANCC recognized RN certification
- ANCC recognized RN certification uniquely applicable to this specific unit, (general certifications, such as WCC, will not be acceptable for meeting this requirement). ANCC certification and PALS needs to be completed within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
