Come join a great team at State Hospital West (SHW)! We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for SHW located in Nampa. SHW is a 16-bed Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital (for adolescents between 11 and 18 years old) nestled between Ridgecrest and Centennial golf courses on a picturesque piece of state property along the Nampa Interstate 84 corridor. SHW provides psychiatric inpatient treatment care for Idaho’s adolescent citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living and is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
This position is not eligible for telework.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Incumbents carry out charge RN responsibilities in addition to skilled nursing.
- Provides professional nursing care and determines need for and arranges professional consultations.
- Abides by standards of nursing practice and unit and institution policies and procedures.
- Facilitates completion of required nursing records.
- Evaluates patients' status as to change in behaviors, physical and/or mental illness, etc.
- Reviews records for errors, follow-up treatments, medications administered, etc.
- Instructs patients and families regarding basic health care.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician and documents outcome.
- Performs psychosocial and physical assessments of patients upon admission and continuing assessments during hospitalization. Also utilizes concepts of developmental theories in assessment of adolescents.
Performs professional nursing that may include:
- Client assessment
- Care plan development
- Health education
- Clinical activities
- Case management
- Direct nursing services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.
