As a Medical Assistant or LPN - Columbia County Health Department within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Starting Salary:

Medical Assistant - $35,000 LPN - $42,000

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. A maximum of 30-minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Medical Assistant:

Under direct supervision, performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the provider on duty.

Handles front office duties which include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing and coding for insurance purposes.

Assists in the clinic by taking and recording vital signs and charting medical history, providing TB or DOT services, ordering supplies, preparing patients for examination and collect blood or other laboratory specimens.

Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

LPN:

Under direct supervision,and preform clinical duties under the direction of the provider on duty.

Provide immunization services, run reports, managing inventory, participating in audits, ordering supplies, collect blood or other laboratory specimens, cleaning/ sterilizing instruments, dispose of contaminated supplies, vital signs, charting medical history, providing TB and DOT services, and servicing as back up to medical assistants.

Medical Assistant:

Medical Assistant's program from an accredited technical or vocational school.

Certification from Medical Assistant's program and CPR certification

Phlebotomy certification or able to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

LPN:

Vocational/ Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college

Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse and CPR certification

Employment Information

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
