Position Title: Registered Nurse II, Non-Acute
Department/Unit: Outpatient Rheumatology
Shift/Hours: Days/ PRN
Expected Salary Range: Minimum $33.97/hour; Mid-point $42.86/hour; Salary determined based on years of nursing experience.
The Division of Rheumatology at Cincinnati Children’s strives to be a national and international leader in the care of patients with pediatric rheumatic diseases. The Rheumatology Clinic at Cincinnati Children’s provides diagnosis, education, treatment, and follow-up for children with various rheumatic diseases. We conduct more than 4,000 outpatient visits and approximately 300 inpatient admissions each year. Our staff treats more than 550 new patients a year, ranging from infants to young adults. Many of these patients are referred to us by physicians from across the country.
Conditions Treated: Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Juvenile Dermatomyositis, Juvenile Spondyloarthritis (SpA), Lupus, Juvenile Primary Fibromyalgia Syndrome (JPFS), Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD), Uveiti.
Position Details:
- Work Schedule:
- 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
- One day as the late RN 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, expected to stay until clinic is finished.
- No weekends, evening shifts, or major holidays currently.
- Travel:
- The role travels to Liberty every Tuesday and the 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the month, approximately once a week.
- Clinic Dynamics:
- Approximately 3-4 providers in each half-day clinic.
- Each provider typically sees around 4-6 patients per session.
Responsibilities of Rheum RNs:
- Assist with clinic flow
- Assist with IM injections with numerous vaccines
- Conduct manual blood pressures
- Assist with joint injections
- Assist medication refills
- Triage phone calls and messages
- Office paperwork including, FMLA, School Forms, My Chart Messages, Epic in basket, etc.
- In clinic 1-2 days a week, and office the other
Team Structure:
- 20 providers (MD and Fellow mix)
- Pharmacist, Social workers, dieticians, and child life support available
- 6 nurses – this position makes 7 nurses
- 3 MAs
- Clinic located at base in E2

- Primarily Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and patients referred for certain lab markers that could indicate something rheumatological.
- Patients range from early childhood to early 20s.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance - Patient Services Staff -Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
Interprofessional Practice -Demonstrates consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) in all aspects of practice.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Associate/Diploma prepared RNs from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution requires 2+ years of experience. If hired as an external candidate without BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire date and complete program within 5 years of hire date.
BSN from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution or MSN are preferred.
Active Ohio RN License. May be required to obtain other state licensure.
Foreign graduates must have license validated through CGFNS per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
