Position Highlights:
- Shift Schedule: (Full Time 40 hours/week) Days, but hours vary (6am – 6pm). Weekday with some opportunity to pick up on the weekends.

JOB SUMMARY: The Wellness RN will either work at an employer-based on-site clinic or one of our Occupational Medicine locations. The key objective is to develop positive relationships by creating value through onsite protocol-driven care, onsite direct patient care within a clinic setting, health coaching, and education with wellness programming. Some locations may have Occupational Medicine and the RN will be responsible for providing first aid and other occupational and environmental health services as needed. Participation or conducting of ergonomic evaluations, participation in EH&S committees, Wellness programs and EH&S audits. The Wellness RN performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the client and the BestHealth for Business department. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively at all levels throughout an organization and ensure that all business is conducted in a timely, confidential, courteous & professional manner. Some travel to other clinic locations may be required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; valid NC license to practice as a Registered Nurse. BCLS certification required. Associate degree or higher required. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing is preferred. In Wellness settings, the following is preferred: Certified Health Coach. In specific Occupational settings, the following is preferred: Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN), Certified Industrial Audiometric Technician and NIOSH Approved Spirometry Training.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION. Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the State of North Carolina and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Valid North Carolina driver’s license required. Certified Health & Wellness Coach preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides patient/family centered care, acting as partner and adviser, assists and supports patients and families to optimally manage their health care, respecting their culture and values, individual needs, health goals and treatment preferences
- Applies critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment in order to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially given that the patient may be present with complex problems or potentially life threatening conditions. - Focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care by applying appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing procedures, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, coordinating nursing and other health services, assisting the patient to navigate the health care system, and evaluating patient outcomes.
- Provides leadership in the clinical setting and provides operational accountability for and coordination of nursing services, including the appropriate skill mix and delegation of roles and responsibilities for licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel.
- Designs, administers, and evaluates nursing services within the organization in accord with relevant federal requirements, state laws and nurse practice acts, regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Participates in regular team meetings and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Maintains knowledge of care teams for coordination of patient care, self-management, population management and communication skill
- Collaborates with other departments ensuring employees are connected through the Medical Center to receive appropriate care and programs.

- Consults with employees regarding health awareness, education and care navigation.
- Ensures a safe working environment for self and coworkers by following regulatory agency and organizational policies and procedures.
- Adheres to the general Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Community Physician’s standards to promote a cooperative working environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
- Able to work within electronic medical record and other software solutions to register patients, document visits and health education.
- In the Occupational Medicine environment conducts the following:
- Drug screens
- Breath alcohol
- Pulmonary function tests
- Audiometric testing
- Respiratory fit testing.
- Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with Atrium WFBH Point of Care policies and with applicable state and federal regulations
- Travel to multiple locations within NC, VA.
