Key Responsibilities:

Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Manage and update student health records.
Develop and implement health plans for students with chronic conditions.
Provide health education to students, staff, and parents.
Collaborate with school administrators and parents regarding students’ health concerns.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal health guidelines and policies.
Assist with IEPs

Qualifications:

LPN Program: Complete an accredited LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) program, typically lasting about 12-18 months. These programs are offered at community colleges, technical schools, or nursing schools and involve both classroom instruction and clinical practice.
Basic Nursing Knowledge: Coursework typically includes anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, nursing fundamentals, and patient care skills.
After completing the LPN program, you must pass theNCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses) to become licensed.
While prior experience in a school setting is not always required, experience working as an LPN in healthcare settings (hospitals, clinics, or long-term care) will help you adapt to the duties of a school-based LPN.
Schools often require LPNs to be certified in CPR and First Aid. This is a standard requirement for ensuring you're prepared for medical emergencies.
Schools typically require a criminal background check for all staff members, including LPNs, to ensure the safety of the students.
