CNA Restorative Nurse Assistant Full Time Days

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Administrative Director, with direct supervision from the Registered Nurse, this position is responsible for providing restorative nursing activities as ordered by the physician,

Duties:

*Performs duties in a manner that provides for the physical, psycho-social and spiritual needs of the patient including performing basic patient care activities. Incorporates cultural and ethnic factors into patient care activities within the limitation of the job, correctly differentiating and reporting normal and abnormal findings with direction from the RN and incorporates the functional/developmental age into these activities for the adolescent through geriatric patient population.
*Using hospital and regulatory standards of care, the RNA demonstrates sound judgment in the implementation and basic aspects of the trans disciplinary care plan as it relates to restorative nursing. In conjunction with the patient/family and with the direction of the RN, the RNA provides care based on the individualized patient care plan. The RNA observes and reports patient issues/concerns/problems and on an ongoing basis will report findings to LVN or RN,
*As a member of the healthcare team the RNA implements and incorporates basic patient care activities across the continuum by effectively communication with physicians, staff and other disciplines.
*Responds appropriately to concerns regarding patient safety based on the physical environment, equipment and the patient's behavior.
*Demonstrates the ability to provide care in emergency situations and following established emergency procedures and practices, as appropriate.
*Communicates and follows the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate.
*Assures that the rights of all patients are respected and maintained by allowing for privacy and dignity in the provision of care.
*Performs and documents heights and weights accurately.
*Provides positioning/splinting equipment for appropriate patients and monitors correct use of the equipment.
*Performs ROM, strengthening exercises and ambulation for residents in the RNA Program.
*Participates in the RNA, IDT and Weight Variance meetings.
*The RNA is aware of the reporting responsibilities and reports suspected cases of abuse or neglect relative to the adult through geriatric rehabilitation patient population as appropriate.
*Reinforces patient/family educational needs as identified by the RN and helps provide individualized basic teaching during the care giving process which considers the functional/developmental age and the needs of the adult through geriatric rehabilitation patient population. The RNA observes and reports the effectiveness of the patient/family teaching through observation of patient responses.
*Demonstrates knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assessing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. *Practices Universal Precautions.

Current California RNA Certificate
BLS card
Assault Response Competency (ARC) required (within 30 days of hire)
Current Los Angeles County Fire Card required (within 30 days of employment)

Preferred Education

High School graduate or equivalent preferred
Completion of Nursing Assistant course
Completion of RNA course

Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications

Minimum one year recent RNA or CNA experience preferred

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

Current California CNA Certificate
Current California RNA Certificate
BLS card
Assault Response Competency (ARC) required (within 30 days of hire)
Current Los Angeles County Fire Card required (within 30 days of employment)
