DESCRIPTION

The La Jolla Special Procedures nurse provides pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure nursing care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing endoscopy and other special procedures at multiple locations. Assists physician during endoscopy procedures and performs moderate sedation under the direction of the physician. Identifies and implements nursing interventions, and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing and tech team and performs other duties as assigned. Promotes compliance and support for policies and participates in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
RN license issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date.
One (1) year recent GI procedural experience in a setting that has procedural suites or operating rooms and/or ED or ICU RN experience.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills and strong written and verbal communications skills.
Teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on business needs.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $131,335 - $184,078 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $62.90 - $88.16

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
