The base pay scale for this position is $79.00 - $79.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

2 years,Nursing. Operating Room experience.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight.Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs).

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoor area with frequent exposure. Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise. Examples: patient care providers and laboratory technicians.

HAZARDS OSHA

~ OSHA Category 1.Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials.

Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Completes system assessments.Perfo
rms a complete systems assessment of assigned patients upon admission to the unit and at intervals recommended in HSS Standards of Care.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Demonstrates ability to assess.Demonstrates ability to assess and interpret age specific and populationspecific data and provide appropriate communication level, treatment and care (ie: nutritional needs, signs and symptoms of abuse, pain assessment).
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Oversees plans of care.Initiates and revises individualized patient plans of care from assessment and mutually established goals with patient/family/healthcare interdisciplinary team.
Applies the Nursing Process - Assesses patient needs.Demonstrates the ability to assess the physical, psychosocial and educational needs of patients/families considering age, culture, cognitive, developmental and functional limitations.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Reviews prescribers' orders.Reviews and implements all prescribers' orders accurately and administers medication in a safe and accurate manner, demonstrating knowledge of action and potential side effects in accordance with HSS medication policy and procedure.

Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Demonstrates proper procedure.Demonstrates proper procedure for central line assessment and maintenance to prevent CLABSI.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Complies with policy.Complies with blood and blood product administration policy.
Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Provides patient education.Provides education (i.e. Pre/PostOperative) to patients and families as per established standards of care, policies and procedures.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Recognizes signs of pain management.Recognizes signs and symptoms of complication of Pain Management Therapies and intervenes appropriately: a) PCA b) Narcotic infusions c) Epidural d) Nerve Block e) Rescue dose (ie. PRN) f) nonpharmacologic.

use and application in accordance with HSS policy and procedure.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Provides patient orientation.Provides patient with orientation to the unit area inclusive of environmental safety protocols and procedures.
Maintains Documentation & Manages Information - Adheres to documentation standards.Adheres to all documentation standards related to patient care information. Completes the Intraoperative record (including implants / allografts, cell saver, medication and expendable supplies as applicable). Documents assessment and nursing actions based on physiological changes of the patient during surgery.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Performance of Surgical Counts.Adheres to surgical counts as per HSS established policy and procedure. Initiates corrective actions when the count is incorrect.
Promotes Environment of Care/Infection Control - Complies with Infection Control policies & procedures.Complies with policies and procedures concerning infectio
n control and safety in order to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff. Maintains traffic patterns in the operating room.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Time Out.Verifies procedure, surgical site and laterality using the “Time Out” process to confirm the correct patient and correct site prior to anesthesia and incision.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Positioning and body alignment.Assesses positioning and body alignment starting from head to toe to ensure safety in positioning and correct use of assistive devices to maintain positioning during the surgical procedure.
Demonstrates HSS Professional & Clinical Standards - Acts as charge nurse.Assumes Charge Nurse functions as determined by the PCD/ Manager, including assessing staffing needs, organizing and delegating work assignments based on patient acuity and individual staff skill levels.
Participates in Education - Preceptor role.Acts as a preceptor for orientees as d
etermined by the PCD/ Manager. Works in conjunction with the Professional Development team to ensure the orientee meets the orientation requirements.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

Bachelors, Nursing. Newly hired registered nurses must have completed BSN.

EDUCATION PREFERRED

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIRED

Registered Nurse License, New York. BLS. ACLS. Experienced nurses must have American Heart Association BLS and ACLS upon hire date; new graduates and transfers must obtain this by completion of the 6 month HR probationary period.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE PREFERRED

Specialty certification recognized by ANCC.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Demonstrate competency in the use of the Nursing Process.
