Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an energetic, detail-oriented and experienced licensed Registered Nurse to serve as the Assistant Director of Nursing at the Choate Center located in Anna, Illinois to oversee and supervise professional nursing staff in the care and treatment of individuals at the Choate Center a 24/7 operational facility. Choate Center strives to provide equitable access to social/human services, supports, programs and resources to enhance the lives of all who we serve.

Essential Functions

Serves as Assistant Director of Nursing for the Choate Center.
Serves as full-line supervisor.
Assigns and verifies that staff attend mandatory in-service programs.
Develops and maintains good interpersonal relations with staff.
Monitors the Nursing Quality Improvement (QI) Plan to ensure it is utilized to assist in the evaluation of individual care.
Reviews the therapeutic environment aspects of the nursing process to ensure they consist of assessments, care plans, treatment plans, interventions, and documentation in progress notes to meet the standards of Choate Center and outside reviewing bodies.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerative above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing.
Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Three (3) years of professional experience supervising professional nursing staff.
Three (3) years of professional nursing experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses.
Three (3) years of professional experience recommending and implementing nursing policies and procedures relative to the latest trends and nursing standards.
One (1) year of professional experience training nursing staff on latest trends and nursing standards.
One (1) year of professional nursing experience communicating in verbal or written from with patients and/or individuals.
One (1) year of experience completing and conducting employee performance evaluations and recommending and implementing disciplinary actions following collective bargaining agreement.
One (1) year of professional experience performing quality assurance assessments on nursing services and treatments provided to patients and/or individuals.
One (1) year of professional experience reviewing program needs, setting priorities and assigning nursing staff to ensure compliance.

Conditions of Employment

Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
Requires the ability to serve as Administrator on Duty (AOD) on a rotating basis, after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
Requires the physical ability to teach and implement emergency procedures (i.e., Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Heimlich Maneuver, etc.).
Requires the ability to obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
Requires the ability to use utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
