Job Summary
An innovative opportunity for an NP to collaborate with attending hospitalists on the Hospital Medicine Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital! - WE SUPPORT NEW GRADUATES!!! One-on-one direct support for your first 10 weeks of work with us as well as ongoing check-ins on your progress. - Supportive clinical work environment – working as a Team with our HMU attendings. - This is a 36 hour OR 40 hour per week Position and you get to choose!!! - This position will start as a day shift and then integrate into nights after the 1st year for New graduates and during the first year for an experienced NP. - New graduate NP applicants: Please list clinical rotations (including institution and specialty) in your resume. - Excellent, comprehensive training and support (developed based on your skill and experience level). This opportunity includes direct patient care from admission to discharge and a cross-coverage model for general inpatient medicine patients and subspecialty services. The NP will follow 6 patients on average, with one admission per day. The NP promotes a cohesive relationship and effort between the hospitalists, private physicians, nurses, and the remainder of the interdisciplinary health care team. Applicants for this position should be patient-centered, motivated, and upbeat clinicians that want to on a large academic team with MD/DO colleagues and NP/PA peers. You are a self-starter and able to respond, triage, and systematically care for both non-urgent and acute issues that arise in our patients. This position is for a rotation of both day and night coverage - The day and night positions are each 12 hour coverage models, with the night being primarily cross coverage and admitting responsibilities. NPs during day coverage should expect to work from 6:45am – 7:15pm and night coverage from 6:45pm – 7:15am. - Experienced NPs should anticipate a rotation of nights during their 1st year of employment. - New graduate NPs should anticipate a rotation of nights after their first year and between their 2nd year of employment. - All new graduates please include their clinical rotations in their resumes and should include prior work experience. - If a new graduate, then you are in good standing to complete your degree. - NPs - An inpatient medicine rotation at a large academic center or level 1 trauma center is preferred though candidates with other inpatient and/or ICU clinical rotations may be considered. - Possess the ability to care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems. - Display maturity and self-confidence to follow patients with a complex management plan. - Acquire accurate patient history, perform comprehensive physical exams, diagnose and treat health problems. PLEASE NOTE: Within the first year, there is an expectation to work every other weekend. This weekend requirement will be reduced in subsequent years. Qualifications
General medical inpatient or ICU experience is preferred for experienced NPs; however, those with other NP experience may be considered. Current Massachusetts State Licensure, with all associated active certifications as a Nurse Practitioner in good standing. MCSR and DEA licenses Active ACLS/BLS certification as established by the American Heart Association.
