Job Summary
***This is for a 36- OR 40-hour NOCTURNAL Nurse Practitioner POSITION*** This innovative opportunity is for a Nurse Practitioner, (NP) to partner with attending physicians working with the Hospital Medicine Unit providing inpatient care. Primary responsibilities include: - Serve as the responding clinician for already admitted patients. This is the point of first contact for Nursing and other clinical team members. In this role, documentation of significant events and responding to care needs is expected in collaboration with the attending physician. - Assess and admit patients to the Medical service - including documenting in the electronic health record and entering orders. Shift hours are, from 6:45pm-7am. Applicants for this position should be patient-centered, motivated, and energetic clinicians who want to be part of a large academic team of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Physicians. You are a self-starter and have the ability to respond, triage, and systematically care for both non-urgent and acute issues that arise in complex medical inpatients. PLEASE NOTE: This is a NIGHT role (6:45pm-7am) and includes a rotation of weekends and holidays (major and minor) and a weekend dedication. Additional Responsibilities: - Care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems. - Diagnose and treat health problems; obtain patient histories, perform comprehensive physical exams, order diagnostic tests, prepare a diagnosis and implement a treatment plan for conditions; and prescribe medications. - Follow complex patient management plans - Work independently in a collaborative care model where you are the first contact for acute cross coverage issues that arise - Effectively document events, assessment, and management of significant cross coverage events. Qualifications
General medical inpatient or ICU experience is preferred with a minimum of at least 2 year of NP experience required; however, applicants with other NP experience may be considered. Candidates with direct patient care experience as a NP on an inpatient medicine floor or in the ICU are strongly preferred. Current Massachusetts State Licensure in good standing, with all associated active certifications, as a Nurse Practitioner, is a requirement. MCSR and DEA licenses Qualified in all basic (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) standards as established by the American Heart Association.
