Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant/Buyer to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY:
Assisting the oncologists with all aspects of care within scope of practice. This is an integral position within the oncology department to help provide the very best care possible to our patients. The buyer is responsible for the procurement, processing and review of all medical and non-medical purchases for Teton Cancer Institute Idaho Falls and Rexburg. These purchases will be made at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, service and company procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews the patient condition and identifies oncology specific issues that are then directed to the appropriate medical staff.
- Discuss and answer questions regarding patient care plan with patient, family, or significant other.
- Implements patient care plan by coordinating patient care as directed by the Oncologist based on professional standards and protocols. Identifies patient and family care needs as they develop through therapy and appropriately responds with care and information to the patient and family.
- Obtains patients accurate height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, temperature, pain level, and fall risk with every provider visit.
- Obtains/updates patients medical history, procedure/surgical history, family history, social history, allergies, and medications with every provider visit.
- Complies with CMS requirements for meaningful use.
- Administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections (within scope of practice) in accordance with facilities policies/procedures.
- Performs venipunctures, collects blood samples/urine samples/stool samples, performs therapeutic phlebotomies, performs PT/INR’s, and performs EKGs (within scope of practice) in accordance with facilities policies/procedures.
- Performs thorough chart prepping to obtain all necessary medical records for each patient visit with the provider.
- Documents all patient care in the patients’ medical record as appropriate and ensures the distribution of the findings to the appropriate clinicians.
- Assists the providers with procedures and examinations, as directed by the Oncologist.
- Coordinates care with dietician and social worker as needed.
- Maintains a safe, neat, orderly and supplied work area.
- Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
- Checks MVH email as per protocol.
- Reviews with manager/supervisor stock requirement levels and usage to assure appropriate inventory levels in main storeroom for both medical and office supplies.
- Does monthly expiration checks and logs for both locations (Idaho Falls and Rexburg)
- Insures that all stock and non-stock orders are placed in a timely and accurate manner. This would be completed according to the order schedule provided by the manager of the department.
- Utilizes purchasing contracts and agreements in an effort to reduce costs and maintains product standardization.
- Will not share confidential information pertaining to contracts and agreements.
- Assists any hospital personnel or physician in locating required and approved supplies.
- Assists the manger in coordinating and reviewing new and old products used by the facility to evaluate inventory dollars and quantity on hand.
- Assists in reviewing and resolving all back order information and communicating the status to the requesting department.
- Orders office, medical and cleaning supplies for (Rexburg office)
- Assists with quarterly and year end inventories.
- Assists the manger with educating/training of designated ordering personnel.
- Resolves problems regarding order delivery, damaged shipments, shipping errors, etc.
- Assists accounts payable personnel with resulting billing issues.
- Is courteous and informative in all working relationships.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalentCurrent BLS Certification. Valid driver’s license. Graduation from an accredited Health Sciences program or higher. Current BLS Certification. Valid CMA or CNA certificate/license. Or MVH MA training.
Experience: CMA/CNA experience preferred.
Equipment/Technology: Basic computer skills, must be able to operate vital signs equipment. EMR experience necessary.
Language/Communication: Writing/editing English skills necessary to produce appropriate documentation and communications.
Mathematical Skills: Must be able to do arithmetic.
Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Interpersonal: Must be able to work well in small teams to accomplish departmental goals. Must be able to interact with patients and co-workers in a professional manner.
Performance: Must be able to take verbal instruction and practically apply it without direct supervision. Must uphold HIPAA requirements.
