Nursing Assistant
- Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Additional NURSING ASSISTANT PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transports patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and non-invasive specimen collection.
- Turning and positioning patients, range of motion, ambulation, and toiletry.
- Assistance with all ADL's and complete care as needed.
- Setting up, assisting and educating patients, with commodes, bedpans, urinals, sitz baths, walkers, wheelchairs, slings, venodyne boots, crutches, specific precautions- with input from PT as needed
- Appropriate emptying and/or recording of all drainage devices.
- Postmortem care.
Patient Care Tech
Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be courteous to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Takes and records patients' vital signs. Dresses wounds, gives enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and
massages.
- Applies compresses, ice bags, and hot water bottles.
- Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in
charge.
- Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and notes time
and amount on patients' charts.
- Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers.
- Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine
laboratory tests on samples.
- Sterilizes equipment and supplies.
- Prepares or examines food trays for prescribed diet and feeds patients. Records food and fluid intake
and output.
- Bathes, dresses, and assists patients in walking and turning.
- Cleans rooms, makes beds, and answers patients' calls.
- Washes and dresses bodies of deceased persons.
- Assists in delivery, care, and feeding of infants.
- Inventories and requisitions supplies.
- Performs tracheotomy care, colostomy care, wound care and dressing changes.
- Demonstrates through clinical practice the use of universal precautions, understands the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and/or practice in the prevention of TB transmission and adheres
to all other infection control policies.

Nursing Assistant Trainee (Apprenticeship Program) – Grade FHS5, Job Code: 00351
- Ability to read, write and communication in English
- Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Apprenticeship Program
- The Nursing Assistant Registered Apprenticeship Program:
- 1. Includes a classroom curriculum with an accredited Nursing Assistant Program
- 2. Includes on-the-job training
- 3. Must successfully complete Program within 6 months of hire into Trainee role
- Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00333.
Nursing Assistant, Will-Train – Grade FHS5, Job Code: 00444
- Ability to read, write and communication in English
- Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will-Train program
- Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train program, successful passage of the Falmouth Hospital written competency exam for Nursing Assistant
- Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00333
Nursing Assistant – Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00333
- Ability to read, write and communication in English
- Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- a) Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program
- b) Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program
- c) Successful completion of an EMT Program
- d) Successful completed of an LPN Program
- e) Equivalent clinical Military experience
- f) Completed at least one year of an accredited Nursing School Program
- g) Successful completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train or Trainee program
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Successful passage of CPI training within 6 months from hire and must maintain recertification annually
Patient Care Tech
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- CNA.
- 6 months experience in a health care setting
- Reads, writes, understands English
- Must have taken the EKG course.
- BLS
- Phlebotomy
Purpose of Position
Nursing Assistant Performs as a member of the Nursing Team various duties assisting Staff Nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. Patient Care Tech Responsible for EKG's, phlebotomy, gluco scans, suctioning, and the collection of sputum by means of suctioning.
