Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Surgical Technologist in our Operating Room department, Per Diem, Day Shift job in Putnam, CT!

The certified surgical technician assists with the nursing care of the patient in the operating room by performance of routine and delegated duties according to policies and standards of the hospital and department.

Certified Surgical Technician Job Responsibilities:

Scrubs and sets up instrumentation.
Maintains aseptic technique at all times.
Maintains awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damages or harm to personnel and patient.
Assists with and anticipates the needs of the surgeon for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies.
Maintains correct count of sponges and needles with the circulating nurse and reports correctness and discrepancies.
Observes and protects the patient before, during, and after the procedure.
Covers call as policy dictates.
Flexibility in adjusting duty hours to meet needs of department.

Certified Surgical Technician Education Requirements:

High School diploma required.
Completion of approved Operating Room Technician Program required.
Certification as Operating Room Technician required.

Certified Surgical Technician Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Meets the physical demands of the position.
Available to take emergency call.
Demonstrates ability to cope with and function under stress.
Good health and knowledge of proper body mechanics in the lifting of patients, pushing stretchers and equipment.
