Hospital of University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Perioperative Patient Flow Nurse Navigator @ Hospital of University of Pennsylvania 9a-7p Monday - Friday, no weekends.

Summary:

Serves as the perioperative patient flow navigator during peak hours (as defined by Fiscal year patient volume) which in addition to overseeing the below activities, acts as an expert consultant for solving day to day perioperative patient flow problems-- both personnel and technical and ensures open communication between all members of the perioperative team and of the care team(s).

Main OR NPP/HUP (MOR) and Surgery Center and Endoscopy (SC/EC):

Serves as the patient flow ambassador and facilitator for all OR cases. •Develop and retain an in-depth understanding of the perioperative policies and procedures at all perioperative locations. •Coordination of Patient flow throughout the main OR •Including and not limited to room turnover, documentation of necessary OR elements, and documentation of delays
Improve overall efficiency of the main OR •Serves as the primary contact for all routine perioperative delays.
Supports patient flow by serving as the primary data analysis.
Acts as the communication hub for periop in regards to all patient movement.
Works in conjunction with the Nursing OR Coordinators to facilitate patient flow in an appropriate and timely manner.

Credentials:

Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association required.
Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
Pennsylvania RN licensure required. Certification in a National Nursing Specialty, appropriate to practice needs or patient population.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
Education Specialization: BSN degree from an accredited school of Nursing Equivalent Experience: •And 3+ years relevant professional nursing experience, at least 1 year of experience at the Clinical Nurse II Colleague level.

Skills and Abilities

5+ Years Perioperative Nursing Experience
Basic computer knowledge and skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand the needs of internal and external clients and devise ways to bridge these needs to achieve goals
3 to 5 years of Data entry skills
Demonstrated proficiency in management of patient flow in Periop in an academic medical center setting
High energy individual with skills in multi-tasking. Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, across care settings and disciplines.
