Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse (RN), Observation Unit will workRegular Full-Time Evenings and manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Cares for ages Pediatric through advanced age and end of life.

Essential Functions:

The Registered Nurse assesses,and diagnoses patient and family need to provide quality care to assigned patients and documents findings in the EMR. Performs admission assessment within six hours of admission or in accordance with specific unit standards. Reviews and acknowledges all MD orders for assigned patients. The Registered Nurse identifies and documents nursing diagnosis on patients plan of care promptly. Identifies and documents patient/family/significant other teaching needs upon admission.

The Registered Nurse identifies discharge-planning needs of patient/family/significant other of admission.

Qualifications: Education:

BSN preferred

Experience:

New graduates with and RN license are welcome to apply!

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

High level of initiative and creative problem-solving ability necessary

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and walk 6-12 hours per shift.

Must be able to assist patients with ambulation and transfers, able to lift up to 35 pounds. Exposure to body fluids

Licenses/Certifications:

RN license in NYS. BLS and ACLS required. National Certifications are encouraged.

New employees must complete certifications within six (6) months of hire.
