Nursing Professional Development (NPD) practitioners and specialists dedicate their careers to helping nurses uphold their competencies and reach academic and practice goals, all of which boosts quality healthcare outcomes. To recognize the many achievements of these hardworking team members, Nursing Professional Development Week is an annual celebration held during the third week in September.

As a nurse, you know that your education didn’t stop when you left nursing school. In fact, you might argue that you were just getting warmed up. The ANA and other leading nursing bodies routinely review and revise the standards of the nursing practice so that they evolve along with healthcare as a whole. This is just part of what makes nurses lifelong learners.
