Chief CRNA Manager - SJCH Anesthesia

Job Description Summary

Manages one or more functional areas of a department. Manages two or more professional and support staff, including subordinate supervisors. Typically has hire, fire, or promotion authority in collaboration with the Director. Ensures thorough evaluations, observations, and interactions to ensure high-quality anesthesia providers. Evaluates and makes improvements to department processes while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations. Provides support for practitioners through evaluation, counseling, correction, and other methods to promote and enhance practice within the department.
More discretion and greater financial authority than other lower management levels; oversight of assigned cost centers to include, but not limited to staffing levels, patterns, and deployments. Reviews staffing related to budgetary constraints, financial stewardship, and reporting mechanisms. Works independently and in collaboration with leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals.
Promotes interprofessional collaboration, manages initiatives, strategic priorities and program development which have an impact on the culture, organization, and community. Plans, organizes, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates activities and functions of the department-based employee/organizational goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical/non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings. Identifies improvements to practices, clinical process, practice scope, and other areas which could impact patient management and clinical process. Works to empower and motivate team members to their highest potential.

Job Summary/Purpose:

More discretion and greater financial authority than other lower management levels; oversight of assigned cost centers to include, but not limited to staffing levels, patterns, and deployments. Reviews staffing related to budgetary constraints, financial stewardship, and reporting mechanisms. Works independently and in collaboration with leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals.

Minimum Training and Education: Master’s degree with nurse anesthesia concentration, or equivalent, and 5 years, or more, of clinical practice experience required. Demonstrated leadership initiatives and skills within the department. For example, formal education for advanced degree, leading quality improvement initiatives, participating on a hospital-wide committee, working as COD or Lead CRNA, or participating in outside leadership classes. Prior experience in a leadership role.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Must be a registered nurse with current license to practice and official recognition as a CRNA in the State of South Carolina. and certified (or eligible for certification) by the Council on Certification with current re-certification as appropriate. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

(Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
